Search For Images In Firefox On A 3D Wall: PicLens

Searching for images can be very boring, especially when you can’t find the picture you are really looking for, and you have to browse tens of pages before finding it.

Wouldn’t it be easier if you could see them on a unique infinite page? Or, even better, on an infinite 3D wall?

People at CoolIris (a free browser add-on that lets you preview links and rich media without clicking or leaving your current page) have come out with a new great extension that words on Windows and Mac, on Internet Explorer, Safari and Firefox.

The add-on I am talking about is called PicLens, and it allows you to search and browse images on an infinite 3D wall that you can scroll with your mouse.

Here’s how it works:

Searching Images

When you want to search for images with PicLens, after you click on the launch button located on the top right of your browser, you will be brought in a black full-screen interface.

From here you can insert your query and make your research in all major image search engines like Google Images, Flickr, Yahoo, SmugMug, PhotoBucket and Deviant Art.

After you click enter, results will begin loading, and you will be able to browse them by scrolling and zooming the wall.

When you find the image you want, you just have to select it and click on the button that appears on the top left of your screen: it’ll bring you to the individual page of that image, so that you can see it better and download it.

Browsing Images

When you are on one of the supported sites, if you put your mouse over an image it’ll show you a button: by clicking it, the wall will open up, and it’ll let you browse all of the pictures contained in that album, folder, or search result, depending on which site you are.

When you find an image that you like, just click on the top left of your screen as said before to open the image’s individual page.

PicLens is completely free to install and use.
